Atlantic City Teen Charged In Fourth Of July Shooting During Large Fight

An Atlantic City teen was accused of shooting a man during a fight on the Fourth of July, authorities said.

Charles Summers, 19, was arrested on Thursday, July 25, the Atlantic City Police Department said in a news release on Monday, July 29. Officers responded to a report of a large fight on the 1000 block of Sewell Avenue at around 9:55 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.

As police were arriving, they learned a man had been shot. The 24-year-old from New York was treated by officers before he was brought to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City Division, with non-life-threatening injuries.

Charges were filed against Summers on Thursday, July 25. He was taken into custody on the first block of South Florida Avenue later that day.

Summers was charged with attempted murder, three counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
